FRANCE & MONACO
In the smiling landscape of Provence, there are countless stony, mountain perched villages, some in the Alps, where life still proceeds at an old-fashioned pace, village men play boules in the shade of a hot afternoon, and lavender fields are full and waiting for harvest. Ancient churches set on cliffs tower above villages where the rivers run a vibrant green from rich mineral deposits, sunflower fields hold millions of golden suns and vineyards are verdant. On the steamy Mediterranean shore, the topless women sunbathe, the sailboats float by, and the pace of life is also easy. Nearby, the principality of Monaco and city of Monte Carlo, lying between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea, bounded by the French Riviera to the west and the Italian Riviera to the east, offers spectacular views of luxury yachts as large as hotels in the harbor. Cafe squatting and people watching are never better than at a Parisian cafe in Montmartre. The city of life, love and light offers something for everyone. France is an oasis of pleasure, scents, foods, architecture, and people, all of which make compelling subjects to photograph.
